Sarah Martins
When we opened the shop on Lawton Street in 2010, I started working with Alex full time. I meet our customers, do the color matching and help with glassing. Before that I worked for World Savvy, a global education non-profit founded in San Francisco.
I grew up in San Mateo and learned to surf at Linda Mar. I worked at Surf Camp Pacifica in the summers between college eventually moved to the Outer Sunset. Ocean Beach is now my primary and favorite surf spot because of the challenges and quiet beauty that it offers up season after season.
I discovered Ashtanga yoga at Mollusk Surf Shop where Alex used to teach, and appreciate the stability that the repetive practice creates. I've found that in its simplicity, it becomes endlessly complex and interesting.
An outward expression of my life experience is found in the drawings I create with pen and colored pencil. Some of them are hanging on the shop walls or printed as notecards.
